I have for sale an American Flyer model 760 crossing signal which I have enhanced for separate (independent) light bulbs operation. This crossing signal is in very good condition with the only repair being a remount of the crossbuck with a #2 machine screw. Included are two red painted 18v light bulbs #1447 and a short length of rubber hose to ease any future bulb replacement, which otherwise doesn't seem to be humanly possible if a bulb is tight. The enhancement consisted of ...
o Added a new 2nd insulated screw terminal to the base.
o Added a new non-insulated screw terminal to the base.
o Cut a slit in the metal strip connecting the two light bulb sockets.
o Drilled a 1/16" hole in the stanchion.
o Threaded a 32gauge wire down through the stanchion.
o Soldered said wire onto the short part of the now-cut metal strip.
o Connected said wire to the new 2nd insulated terminal.
o Added some spots of solder to the riveted electrical connections. AF riveted electrical connections are notoriously weak and frustrating.
o Painted flat black the lights crossbar where the spots of solder were added.
Nothing you couldn't do yourself if you have the parts for the new screw terminals, the necessary tools and the skills to use, some 32gauge wire, and the patience to thread said wire. Or, much easier, you could just buy this one.
Check out this video of an enhanced crossing signal (not this one) in operation, per link below. With a flasher circuit the crossing signal presents a much more attractive and realistic operation compared to the usual method of using wheel track trips to erratically flash both light bulbs.

The flasher circuit shown in the video is my custom design, definitely not a part of this deal. It consists of a latching relay (12vdc), a flasher circuit PCB (12vdc) from China, and 2 buffer relays (12vdc) to switch 18vac for the crossing signal bulbs. Any kind of track trip can be used to latch the relay well before the crossing, and likewise another track trip of any kind can be used to unlatch the relay well after the crossing.
