    Description

LED Back Lighted Sexy Oldmobile Transparent Acrylic Vintage 70s Ad Custom Frame. Condition is "Used". LED frame is new and custom made.
This is a beautiful vintage TRANSPARENT acrylic print of a dark green Oldsmobile Ninety Eight Royale, very similar to the Eighty Eight Royale I drove in granduate school, which I inherited from my grandfather. The print is the type that dealers would use as advertisements in the showroom and is transparent and reversible.
The acrylic print looks its best with light behind it, so I watched about 5 videos on Youtube of people making custom frames with LED light boxes behind them, mostly for movie posters. After weeks of work, voila! The print lights up beautifully. It is made of a black snap frame on top, which allows easy access to the LED lights inside. The box itself is made from an upcycled solid wood frame that forms the sides and also a ledge for the print to sit on. In order to provide filter and support to the print, part of a stiff sheet of an acrylic cover for ceiling lights was used. In addition, a thin sheet of styrofoam provides more filter and evens out the lighting.
I used bright LED lights with color temp 6000K (bright white) and about 5 meters of LED lights. The lights are powered by a 12 V plug in cord.  The frame can be plugged into a smart plug so that Alexa/Google can turn it on and off with voice command. Cool!
For the back I used a double layer of cardboard on which I taped aluminum electric tape for reflection. The inner sides of the box are also lined with the tape. The lights are arranged along the bottom and also on the sides to help even out the light (the lights on the sides point sideways). The sides are covered with black cloth tape to smooth the transition between the side frame and the back cardboard.
I have another vintage print of the Toronado with brown and gold colors.  Please message me if you would like that print too to rotate with this print.  The cost of the Toronado print with purchase of this light box and 98 print is more.
Stay tuned for my next framed light boxes!
