Description
This beautiful vintage 8-inch vase from Portugal's Conimbriga Pottery Vase has 17th Century-inspired illustrations, featuring a goat, a rabbit, what I think may be a minaret, and alot of flowers. It is identified on the bottom as 270-A, and signed with the initials FF - presumably the artist who painted it.A 360° view was provided, so consult all photos for design, color, and condition specifics.
The opening is 3 1/2" in diameter, and the base is 3 1/8" square. The smooth portion from the rim to the ribbed bulbous portion is 3" wide.
No cracks or crazing were found. There are scant flea bites, but the design camouflages them well. There are some variations to the thickness of the white underglaze, visible inside just under the rim. One spot on the rim is missing glaze. Similar missing glaze can be seen where the vase meets the square base. (It is all one piece, and this does NOT look like a repair.) The white underglaze is chipped on one corner of the base.
The interior is shiny, and so this vase could readily be used for live flowers. However, it has great presence all on its own without any added visual distractions!
